Product Description
Album Description MAN'S SECOND CLASSIC ALBUM FOR LIBERTY / UA - NOW 24-BIT REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES WITH PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED BONUS TRACKS MAN's importance in the history of Welsh rock music cannot be understated. Fusing the worlds of psychedelia, blues, rock and roll and West Coast inspired rock, they were simply one of Britain's most original groups of the 1970's. Recording a series of Classic albums for Liberty / United Artists, MAN, along with labelmates HAWKWIND, were true champions of the "underground" spirit. Esoteric Recordings are proud to undertake the reissuing of MAN's entire legacy for United Artists continuing with their 2nd album for the label released in November 1971. The reissue is expanded by 35 minutes featuring 3 previously unreleased live bonus tracks from 1971 and liner notes exclusively penned by MAN guitarist and raconteur DEKE LEONARD. The time is right to re-experience the musical ages of MAN!
Originally released in 1971, so I'm assuming this was possibly Man's fourth album. I had recent compared notes with a couple of old school Man followers and they mentioned that 'Do You Like...' isn't considered to be the long running progressive British band's best work. Personally, I thought it was almost as good as the 1970 self-titled Man CD reissue. Best tracks this disc has to offer is the awesome and rather uplifting "Angel Easy", the tightly played "We're Only Children", "Manillo" that features some really good Man-trademark guitar riffing and "Love Your Life" (has an almost Deep Purple-like organ sound to it). Esoteric adds on three (3) bonus cuts to this already should-have CD reissue. Very nice. Welsh rock emigrants Man had established themselves on the Continent by 1971. Nestling in the bosom of a Germany in a hippy grip as a popular local live act, they had even picked up the lingo, evidenced on their intros to three bonus tracks recorded at a period concert at Essen on this bonzer reissue of the band's second outing on United Artists. Recorded back in the old country at Rockfield Studios in time snatched from the jaws of gigging, the album's more definedly 'progressive' than its predecessor, a uniquely quirky outing in country and krautrock, though equally kraud-pleasing. More commercial in appeal, too, this nonetheless retains satisfyingly some of the experimentalism that hallmarked them from the mainstream of the day
