A ROBBY'S RELEASE
JULIE DRISCOLL, BRIAN AUGER AND THE TRINITY - STREETNOISE (1969)
One of those records that thrills from the very start. It was recorded in London in the late sixties, and probably, that is one of the reasons why it brings that feeling of loss and sadness in most of its songs ("Czechoslovakia", "When I Was Young" "In Search Of The Sun", "Vauxhall To Lambeth Bridge") but, at the same time, of hope ("Take me to the water" and Laura Nyro's "Save the country" would be examples). Julie Driscoll's voice is just breathtaking, powerful, determinant and yet suggestive (one of the best british female singers of her generation), in songs like "A word about color" and "When I was a Young Girl" she provides more emotion and intensity in one line than most of the average female singers in the boring world of pop music these days. The record contains covers to songs like the classic "Light My fire" (wrongly quoted as a Jim Morrison's composition on the credits) leaving nothing to be desired in comparison to the original, in fact, it becomes a new entity on its own, overlapping with the classic "Indian Rope Man", furthermore, among all the covers of the album, there is the classic song "Flesh failures" from the (by then) musical HAIR. There are a couple of instrumental songs also, showing the incredible skills of Mr. Auger at the ivories. We can also listen to him singing in superb compositions like "Looking in the eye of the world". This is one of these records with a very special atmosphere, a must-have, not for only fans of the genre, but for every true music lover.

JULIE DRISCOLL, BRIAN AUGER AND THE TRINITY - STREETNOISE (1969)
