Originally founded as Bow Wow in 1975, changed the name for Vow Wow in 1984 to avoid confussion with the british pop band Bow Wow Wow.
Vocalist and guitarist Kyoji Yamamoto started to use the ``hammer`` technique way before Eddie Van Halen made it popular.
They returned to their original name in 1995 and is still playing under the name of Bow Wow.
