[quote]This short-lived quartet came from Memphis, Tennessee. All but Masters were members of Ronny and The Daytonas' touring band. They had a highly individualistic sound and are best known for Let It Out (Let It All Hang Out) which made No. 12 in the U.S. charts in the Autumn of 1967.
The unreleased album from 1969 contains the tracks Let It Out, It's A Gas, I'm High and Man Man Man plus a cover version of Gloria which turns into Eight Miles High before reverting back to Gloria again. All of these tracks also feature on their debut album, but it's not known if they are the same or different versions.
Hunter later died in 1976. Cunningham's brother, Bill, was a member of The Box Tops.
Compilation appearances have included: Let It Out (Let It All Hang Out) on Nuggets Box (4-CD), Nuggets, Vol. 12 (LP) and Excerpts From Nuggets (CD); A later seventies reworking of the track also appears on a compilation called Psychotic Reactions - Early American Rock Groups (Topline TOP 153) 1986.[/quote]

[quote]Originally a Milwaukee rock'n'roll combo called The Bonnevilles, they got the British Invasion bug and adopted the name, and hairstyle of, Skunks. Their debut 45 was recorded during a brief period in California but was released as by the Unbelievables, possibly because they caught the whiff of other Skunks around at the same time (one such had a 45 in 1965 - Youthquake / A Girl Like You, on Mercury).
The album is a patchwork of disparate styles - from pop covers and crooners to folk-rockers (the Byrds-like I Need No One). They do venture into garage and psych territory so the highlights, from our viewpoint, are a cover of Jefferson Airplane's Somebody To Love (with psychedelic guitar work), When I Need Her (good punk-psych) and The Journey (chiming folk-rock tinged with psychedelia).
Small Town Girl also appeared on a 1968 compilation EP W-RIT (W-Rit Radio 1340) alongside fellow Wisconsin acts Tony's Tygers and The Robbs.
Larry Ostricki went on to form the Larry Lynne Band.
