24bit digitally remastered CD on the PROGRESSIVE LINE label of this excellent US heavy progressive blues album, featuring Neil Merryweather, and the musicians of Mama Lion, without Lynn Carey fronting, although she co-wrote four songs on this first album and sang backing vocals. It was originally released in 1972.

EAVY CRUISER – Heavy Cruiser. Progressive Line PL 561. Australian release. CD. Originally issued in 1972. This remastered edition issued in 2002. Features Neil Merryweather.
DESCRIPTION: 70s hard rock with a blues influence and some flashes of acid guitar. Led by Canadian bassist Neil Merryweather, basically this is Mama Lion without Lynn Carey's vocals (though she did co-write a few songs and provides backing vocals on a couple of the tracks). The Heavy Cruiser album was originally issued on the Family label (Velvert Turner Group, Billy Joel’s debut solo, etc.). Interestingly, Morris Levy (Roulette label owner) got acccess to the master tapes and released a variation of it on his Tiger Lily label in 1976. They released a second album in 1973 titled Lucky Dog. I must confess a fondness for the music of Neil Merryweather and have had most all of his releases in my collection for years, this being no exception. As with all Merryweather projects it contains a couple of klinkers, but overall this is a great album. One of his more obscure and well worth picking up.[/quote]
