Bobby Brown - Enlightening Beam Of Axonda (1972)
ALBUMS:
1 THE ENLIGHTENING BEAM OF AXONDA (Destiny DR 4002) 1972 SC/R1
2 LIVE (Destiny DR 4001) 1978 SC
3 PRAYERS OF A ONE MAN BAND (Destiny DR 2002) 1982 SC
NB: (1) has been repressed many times! Earliest known pressing says on back cover "For additional copies, send $5.00 to...", the second pressing says a higher price, third pressing higher etc. (2) copies say "Send $6.25" on the back. (3) was his last known album. Copies say "Send $8.50" on the back.
A Sacramento, Californian multi-instrumentalist who uses a wide range of homemade instruments on these three albums. Musically, they could be described as psychedelic folk and at their better moments a mystical atmosphere is achieved. Sadly, however, on some occasions (particularly Mambo Che Chay on (1)) Bobby Brown sounds extremely like Rolf Harris! They were released on his own label and the original pressings have become minor collectors items. Bobby Brown performed his one-man-band act extensively up and down the West Coast through the eighties and sold his records out of his van.
